03/08/2006 : brake line routing

2006

Back in 2006, I had an issue with some brake lines, the master cylinder, etc., so I wrote out the setup how it is routed, along with the sizes and types of fittings so I’d know what went where.

Now, my truck is a ’65 C10, with a ’65 power vacuum brake booster. However, it has a 1969 style dual pot master cylinder for drum brakes front and rear, instead of the stock single pot, master cylinder.

Note, December 2014 : this is the way mine was/is setup… it may have absolutely no bearing on your setup. It may or may not be useful to you if you wish to switch to the dual pot MC.

ALSO : I think the sizes I wrote down refer to the size of the nut on the threads where they join, not the actual thread sizes – I’m going to try to check the outside sizes of the nuts to be sure, then I will edit this document.

Master Cylinder – block has the…

9/16″ female threads

to

9/16″ male fitting

to

brake line

to

9/16″ male fitting

to

9/16″ female fittings in the distribution block

to

Distribution Block

to

1/2″ female threads in distribution block

to

1/2″ male threads

to brake line size change adapter with 3/8″ female threads on other side

to

3/8″ male threads

to

brake line

to

onwards to each wheel and the wheel cylinders.
